Massachusetts House Passes Landmark Veterans Legislation: Bill increases state benefits, tax credits, and modernizes services for veterans

(BOSTON) - The Massachusetts House of Representatives passed legislation Wednesday that honors veterans in Massachusetts by broadening the definition of a veteran, increasing tax credits and state benefits that they are eligible for, and modernizing the services that they rely on. H.4671 An Act honoring, empowering, and recognizing our servicemembers and veterans (HERO Act) will impact hundreds of thousands of veterans living in Massachusetts. (BOSTON) - Representative Joan Meschino (D-Hull) will host high school and college interns throughout the months of June and July this summer. These internships are intended for high school and college students who wish to gain valuable experience of the day-to-day happenings in a legislative office. Legislation addresses teen sexting and image-based sexual assault, coercive control, and extends the statute of limitations for certain domestic violence offenses (BOSTON) – On Wednesday, January 10, Representative Joan Meschino (D-Hull) joined the Massachusetts House of Representatives to pass legislation that combines several separate legislative initiatives into one bill which will help prevent abuse and exploitation, while also enhancing protections for survivors.
