(BOSTON) – State Representative Joan Meschino (D-Hull) recently announced the hiring of Liz Carroll Gunderson as a Legislative Aide. Prior to joining Representative Meschino’s team, Ms. Carroll Gunderson served as Marketing and Program Director for the Hull Lifesaving Museum and has held several positions working for local elected officials.

“Liz will be bringing her knowledge of constituent advocacy and project management to our team,” said Representative Meschino (D-Hull). “I am confident that her commitment to the community and ability to connect with residents of all ages will ensure that residents of the district continue to have positive experiences with my office.”

Passionate about our work to serve seniors and veterans, Liz will build upon her experience working for Congressman Bill Delahunt and Representative Jamie Murphy. Liz has also demonstrated a commitment to supporting the needs of young people, working at the Hull Lifesaving Museum’s Summer Program, which provides children an opportunity for discovery and exploration. Liz graduated from Fitchburg State University with a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature and a minor in theater.

Liz’s ties to the district are broad; in addition to working in Hull for a number of years, she lives in the town with her husband and two sons. The natural resources available in the district act as a daily reminder of our obligation to responsibly manage our coast and surrounding waterways. “It’s not lost on me how idyllic this area is for raising young children. The towns in the district offer space to grow – as a child, as an adult; it’s a gift to live in this area, and I am excited to be serving in Representative Meschino’s office,” Liz said.

Liz joins Rep. Meschino’s current Chief of Staff, Chris Altizer. Mr. Altizer has been working with Representative Meschino for over a year, supporting the pressing needs of constituents in Hingham, Hull and Cohasset. He graduated from Harvard in 2021 with a Bachelor of Arts in History and Science. The following year, Chris earned a Master of Education from the Harvard Graduate School of Education after completing the Harvard Teacher Fellows program.

As colleagues on Representative Meschino’s team, Liz and Chris will support the Representative in serving the residents of the 3rd Plymouth District and the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

Legislative Aides play a vital role in the office of Representative Meschino. In addition to constituent services, Legislative Aides are responsible for legislative, office and district activities, including bill filing, bill tracking, policy analysis, scheduling and strategic communications. Aides also serve as liaisons to federal, state and municipal agencies and staff the Representative at State House events, district events and office hours as needed.
