(BOSTON) – This morning, the Massachusetts Department of Fire Services under the Baker-Polito Administration announced $5 million in grant funding to over 300 municipalities under the Firefighter Safety Equipment Grant Program. Among these municipalities were Cohasset, Hingham, Hull, and Scituate.

Towns in the 3rd Plymouth District received the following Safety Equipment funding:
Town of Cohasset: $14,000.00
Town of Hingham: $17,408.06
Town of Hull: $17,722.70
Town of Scituate: $18,995.42

“The Safety Equipment funding equips our first responders with critical tools that will best serve citizens in the Third Plymouth District and across the Commonwealth,” said Representative Joan Meschino (D-Hull). “I am pleased that Cohasset, Hingham, Hull, and Scituate will benefit from this grant funding, and I thank the Department of Fire Services and our Fire Marshal for this continued investment in our public safety resources.”

According to State Fire Marshal Peter J. Ostroskey, fire departments will utilize the allocated funds to purchase a wide variety of equipment that will make continued improvements to the safety of their respective personnel. Among these materials are new protective gear, thermal imaging cameras, portable radios, hazardous gas detectors, assorted hand tools, and extrication equipment.
